Our Story
Calvary Chapel Merritt Island traces its beginnings back to 1980 when a new non-denominational fellowship called, “Cornerstone Church” was first established. For several months the church met at various locations on Merritt Island. In that time, the congregation grew to a size that warranted building a permanent church facility. That building was completed in 1981 and is the present home of Calvary Chapel. Pastor Malcolm Wild was called to pastor the church in 1984. In August of 1992, the church’s name was officially changed to “Calvary Chapel Merritt Island,” reflecting the relationship that the church has had with the Calvary Chapel movement since Pastor Malcolm’s arrival.
